What Are Beaches For?
August 05, 2008
Beaches are for:
· losing track of your thoughts in the continual movement of the waves;
· sitting on sand that contours to the shape of your body;
· watching the movement of the waves with such intensity that the rhythm of your body matches the waves;
· casting your eyes beyond the horizon for endless vision;
· harvesting a detachment from yourself that comes from an absolute connection to your surroundings;
· bringing with you a constricted feeling and uncovering a richness in unknowingly relinquishing those bonds;
· controlling nothing, not even the time you leave for you become caught in the never-ending cycle of water moving forward and then retreating.

beaches are for...helping your sister heal after a year of an unspeakable sorrow...
(We're off the florida together. First sister trip ever.)

Ah... beaches... I'm really hoping I have the energy to drive to our beach house this weekend... I need some long solitary walks!

I hope you make it; the healing power of beach walks might be even more powerful than 10 veggies a day!
