How do you really know if someone actually admires you?
I know what I admire in my husband and sister. Honesty, consistently high work ethic, being realistic about the world around them while also being considerate, and ability to show and feel love.

Without a doubt. Dependability. People know if I tell them that I will do something that if it isn't done...9-1-1 should be called because I am in ditch bleeding somewhere.

Liz--you cheated. What do you think your sister and husband admire in you?
morethananelectrician, you're not running down that same road again, are you?
I guess people admire my survival skills. But me, I wish I didn't have them, maybe then I would have bailed out or found a different solution a while ago.

Sorry about the cheating. I didn't want to sound like the epitome of low self-esteem because I like who I am but I can't think of a specific quality to be admired, especially from my sister. I've always thought she had a subconscious opinion I'm shallow, entitled and spoiled.
I've never known about my husband either, except I've always loved him unconditionally, but he made it easier than I did and I cook "real good."
I just don't know and I don't know what that says about me, ugh.

Liz, maybe she respects you for not giving in to any outside expectations but because you stay true to yourself. Your lack of pretensions could be a point. Hubby, wouldn't someone respect someone else for seeing him for who he is and loving him unconditionally?
